Rav Elie and Tamar Buechler arrived at Columbia University/Barnard College in the summer of 2022 as JLIC directors!
Rav Elie is from Dix Hills, New York and was previously the Assistant Rabbi of The Jewish Center on Manhattan’s Upper West Side from 2019-2022. After studying at Yeshivat Orayta, he attended Brandeis University, where he met Tamar, and then went on to receive semikha from RIETS at Yeshiva University. He holds a master’s degree in Medieval Jewish History from the Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies. Tamar (Ossip) is from Plainview, New York. She recently completed her Psy.D. in School Psychology at Rutgers University and is a postdoctoral fellow at Weill-Cornell Medical Center specializing in pediatric neuropsychology. She studied at Midreshet Harova and Brandeis University. As students, Rav Elie and Tamar were very involved with JLIC, and they still cannot believe that they are now directors themselves! Rav Elie and Tamar are the proud parents of their sons, Kobi (age 3) and Eitan (age 1), the true directors of JLIC at Columbia/Barnard.
